Levels of Care Guide

Understanding your options at Pax Healing

Choosing the right level of care is one of the most important steps in recovery. At Pax Healing, we make that decision simple and supportive. This guide explains the differences between our programs—Partial Hospitalization (Full Day Program), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient (OP)—so clients, families, and referral partners can clearly see which option best fits each stage of healing.
What we offer referral partners

Partial Hospitalization Program (Full Day Program)

Structure:5–6 hours per day, 5 days per week
Focus:Stabilization, intensive therapy, and skill development

Full Day Program provides the highest level of outpatient care for clients who need daily structure without inpatient admission. It includes individual therapy, group sessions, psychiatric management, and family education.

Ideal for:

  • Clients stepping down from detox or inpatient treatment
  • Individuals experiencing acute symptoms requiring daily support
  • Those needing strong accountability to rebuild stability

Expected outcomes:

  • Reduced symptom intensity
  • Improved emotional regulation and focus
  • Consistent engagement and confidence in daily functioning

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Structure:3 hours per day, 3–5 days per week
Focus:Building coping skills, maintaining progress, and strengthening independence

IOP bridges the gap between Full Day Program and standard therapy. Clients attend multiple group and individual sessions weekly, learning relapse prevention, emotion management, and communication skills while maintaining work or school.

Ideal for:

  • Individuals stepping down from Full Day Program
  • Clients balancing recovery with family or employment
  • Those needing structure with flexibility

Expected outcomes:

  • Strengthened coping and relapse prevention skills
  • Improved consistency in daily responsibilities
  • Enhanced communication and emotional stability

Outpatient Program (OP)

Structure:1–2 sessions per week
Focus:Maintenance, accountability, and long-term recovery

OP supports clients who are stable and ready for less frequent therapy while still benefiting from structured support. It includes individual therapy, optional group sessions, and medication management as needed.

Ideal for:

  • Clients who have completed higher levels of care
  • Those managing symptoms independently and maintaining recovery
  • Individuals needing flexible, ongoing support

Expected outcomes:

  • Sustained emotional balance and daily stability
  • Long-term skill application and confidence
  • Continued connection to clinical support network
